Site-specific installation comprised of the interactions between three works: Megafauna: Cuban Cursorial Owl, 2019; Bloodbirds, 2019; and Vulnerable, 2018. Two of these pieces were made in the exhibition space during an artist residency on Governors Island.

Room-sized, site specific
Medical supplies spew forth from glass wall cabinets onto a white fabric covered floor. From the debris emerge eleven water birds moving away and toward a large nest made of surgical tubing. The nest sits on a hearth. Above the fireplace a lightbox that illuminates a 19th Century anatomical lithograph of the heart is mounted. The same image is suspended before two tall windows. A flock of smaller black birds approaches the scene from above. An ambient soundtrack of bird calls is heard.

Nineteen handmade cast cotton and medical supply birds, glass specimen jars, screen printed pillowcases, stainless steel medical cart, screen prints on polycarbonate

Nineteen birds, made of dyed cast cotton, non-piercing syringes, and PVC tubing, have gathered on a stainless steel hospital cart. Some birds are contained in glass specimen jars whose lids are covered with pillowcases onto which the words “NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital” have been hand screen printed. Additional birds have converged on the shelves of the cart. Three black and white screen prints are mounted on a nearby wall.

A room is filled with eight glowing nests which contain ceramic eggs imprinted with the names of seventeen different congenital heart defects. Strewn amongst them are intravenous lines and vials. Suspended before windows paneled with fabric are silkscreens of 19th Century anatomical lithographs of the heart. Soundtrack of bird calls and hospital sounds is heard.

Nineteen birds made of cast cotton and medical supplies have convened on an ambulance gurney. Hospital trash, the remnants of an emergency effort, is strewn on the floor. Ambient sound is heard.

Seven pairs of cast silicone lungs are strewn across the exhibit space. They breathe at independent rates with the help of stepper motors and an air compressor.

Variable, nests approximately 10" diameter
A room is filled with sounds of a medical lab. On the floor lie seventeen nests made of cast silicone and intravenous line. Strewn amongst them are intravenous lines and components. Each nest holds a varying number of ceramic eggs. The eggs are imprinted with names of different congenital heart defects. On the wall hangs a 30 x 18" lightbox displaying a silkscreen of a 19th Century lithograph that depicts two views of the human heart.

Dimensions variable
From the residue of an intensive care unit effort, an unexpected and unusual sight emerges: bird-like creatures who may have materialized from the generated hospital trash. Installation consists of suspended 43 x 36" silkscreen print; clean medical trash collected by intensive care unit nurses; fifteen bird figures(intravenous components, heart monitor electrodes, surgical tape, medical trash, batteries) whose beaks are illuminated by LEDs; sound.
